Ellmau (population just under 3,000 in 2024) is a small village in the heart of the Wilder Kaiser mountains in Northeast Tyrol. Visitors can travel to the top of Hartkaiser mountain via the Hartkaiserbahn funicular, the only of its type in the Ski Welt.

Ellmau (population just under 3,000 in 2024) is a small village in the heart of the Wilder Kaiser mountains in Northeast Tyrol. Visitors can travel to the top of Hartkaiser mountain via the Hartkaiserbahn funicular, the only of its type in the Ski Welt. The municipality is located in a summer and winter sports area and lives mainly from tourism ( 5000 guest beds).
