North Spitsbergen, Arctic Summer - Summer Solstice - 11 days

This eleven-day North Spitsbergen expedition sets a course for some of the most remote corners of northern Europe, departing from Longyearbyen high in the Arctic. Timed around the summer solstice, the voyage makes the most of the endless daylight as it threads its way along rugged coastlines, past towering glaciers and through waters where the wilderness feels genuinely untouched.

Along the route there are chances to come across weathered remains of the old whaling era, a real reminder of how people once worked these icy seas. Wildlife is very much the draw here: a variety of Arctic birds, among them the diminutive Little Auk, wheel overhead, while the great prize for many travellers is the polar bear roaming the pack ice. It is a true expedition for those drawn to raw, far-northern landscapes and the creatures that call them home.
