Belgium

Medieval Bruges and Ghent, the café terraces of Brussels, North Sea beaches and the green hills of the Ardennes — Belgium packs a lot of variety into a short trip.

About Belgium

The Flemish art cities — Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels — revolve around canals, Flemish masters, chocolate and beer. Along the North Sea coast, Ostend and Knokke offer their coastal tram and wide beaches, and in the south the Ardennes roll out forests, rivers and hilltop castles. Everything sits close together and is easy to reach by train.

What makes Belgium special is the way a deep café culture — fries, beer and chocolate — meets a compact country where you can walk through medieval Bruges in the morning and hike the Ardennes in the afternoon. Summer is for the coast and the hills, December for the Christmas markets, and spring and autumn for the art cities without the crowds.
