The Turkish Riviera around Antalya, Side, Belek and Alanya is the beating heart of the beach holiday: spacious, modern resorts with water parks, short transfers from Antalya airport, and value for money few destinations can match. For something quieter or more authentic, choose the Aegean coast around Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye, where pine forests run down to turquoise coves and gulets (wooden sailing boats) wait for a day at sea.
But Türkiye is more than beach. Istanbul stretches two continents across the Bosphorus with the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar; Cappadocia floats balloons over a lunar landscape of rock churches; and you eat well everywhere, from a simple pide to endless mezes. The coastal season runs long — April to November — with July and August the hottest and busiest, and spring and autumn the pleasant sweet spot.
